The goblins will stay in the mine and work it to trade the iron to the Locatha for food and we get 500 gp per year which will be deposited into Sage Credit. We can make changes in the contract with 6 months notice.

The local sage tries to identify the metal sheet. It is not adamantite, mithril or any other of the known metals. It is a flexible 1’x1’ sheet of unknown metal. It is very flexible. It cannot be cut. It is non-magical. It is suggested that it is extra-planar or extra-terrestrial. This would be 1000 gp of value if mithril. We have him spend another 2 weeks. He finds a reference to Ossis an orkish adventurer who battles two phase spiders that have shields made out of this. We call the sage Twitchy. The shield does exist. The phase spiders may not have existed.

An aquatic Elf arrives to train Sputnik. His name is Mynar. He trains me for sixth level and I learn to make Icons and must train further to make scrolls, but I gain 10 HP.

We find a Glyphed secret door in the temple to Moradin. We find an empty scroll library. We decide to leave it an head out.

December 23, 2190
We collapse the tunnel and then travel for two days.

December 25, 2190
We chat with a bat and we find that there are Fire Mastiffs. It has been weeks or months since anyone has been this way. There are two closed portcullises 40 feet apart with a dog outside. There is a secret door inside the tunnel near the closest portcullis.
On the right, there are six to twelve goblin or dwarf-sized creatures behind the arrow slits. There are 3 Hobgoblin sized creatures on the door side, which is the left side. Behind the murder holes above the passageway, there are two more hobgoblins watching the outside of the cave. A sleepy Fire Mastiff guards the second portcullis with his back to us. Further out, three battle-ready Fire Giants are guarding while a fourth lounging around. The battle ready giants have stacks of rocks ready to launch. We would need to get 100 feet out from the cave to get some small cover, but several hundred feet further there is lots of cover.

December 26 to 27, 2190
We decide to travel in pairs and Fly or Levitate while Invisible with Zane’s Deodorant out through the portcullises and meet up outside. We manage to get out safely and Fred chooses not to try to go back and steal from the Fire Giants.

December 28, 2190
We set off to the south-southwest hoping to locate Serlisse’s bloodhawks. It takes a little effort but we find them.

December 29, 2190
We find an evil Mangrove forest that wants to kill us, according to Dr. Schnelp.

September 13, 2190
Farwater shows up in weird-looking multicolored spiny armor. He assures us that is good camouflage in a coral reef and is his best armor. We loan him Arthur’s Belt of Hill Giant Strength.
We make plans to invade the hobgoblin and giant run mine from a hole in the ceiling of the ocean’s cavern. Through the hole is a room that has rusted and broken machinery for the old trading dumbwaiter. At the end of a short hall is a pair of magical doors.

Sputnik Finds a Glyph on the door and Fred Erases it. He then pops the lock after the Giant’s belt is active. We then move into the next room and find another trapped door. We decide to spell shift in that room.
Sputnik determines the door has a Glyph that Fred Erases. After much discussion Fred burns a hole in the door with acid. He then Sleeps the archer squad on the other side. There are several doors out of that room. He
Two of the doors are labeled in Dwarven. The left door says Military Offices and is highly used. The one on the right said Merchants’ Guild Offices. Straight ahead used unbarred closed. Behind and to left is a trapped door.
Fire giants could move easily enough in here, but a Cloud Giant would struggle a bit to get through.

After much vacillation we decide to go through the Military Office door. There is a 20 by 30 room with many low stone counters around. There are a large number of posts in the floor with rings on top. They were to hold ropes to create queues.
The tracks lead straight through to a room with stairs leading up and down and a passageway out the back. The door out of the room is not trapped and is least used. The passageway, though, has sounds coming from it.
It goes a short distance and there is a small room with food strewn about. Then there is another room with 5 more Hobgoblins. We slaughter them. There are arrow slits out of the room and a ladder leading up out of the room.
The ladder leads to an immense space with two squads of Hobgoblins. There are arrow slits out of the room and two alarm bells. Fred Sleeps the lounging squad. In the next segment Raybur Holds two of the other squad. The other three then start yelling. Sputnik then Holds two of the last three. Fred heads to start killing the Sleepers. Sputnik shoots at and misses the fleeing Hobgoblin. Farwater and Arthur slay him with a pair of crossbow bolts.
We slaughter the remaining 9 and head down the way. Five of Hobgoblins run from us due to the yelling. As we catch up to them they fire at Fred and he returns with a Pool Ball Lightning Spell. He drops those five and two more of the brace of squads that emerge from side doors.
Two of the eight combatants start spells and Conrhia hits one with an arrow. Farwater shoots him again and he drops. Arthur wings the other spell caster. The one that is still standing lobs a cloth bag which explodes into a poison cloud as Talarian leaps into battle. Farwater saves by the margin of the Bless. Talarian chunks the caster’s bodyguard. Arthur then drops the caster.
Talarian gets shot. He is “hit cleanly.” Zephram then drops another. Farwater gets into melee and drops his guy with one shot. Phyllis chunks the penultimate one. The last guy shoots Talarian again. Before anyone can do anything else he shoots Talarian again. Talarian wilts to keep from dying. Fred shoots his bowstring. Sputnik takes a swing and barely misses him. He fries Sputnik with his new bow.
The rest of the melee fighters close with him. Fred drops him with a final set of Magic Missiles. We gather the portable magic items including 12 short arrows that Sputnik picks up.
We explore a little and find six chained goblins in a forge room. We free one and have him lead us to where the Giants would be, which is the other trapped door in the first choice room. We then decide to liberate the mine. He leads us back toward the mine. We spot an ambush with 20 hobgoblins, two Fire Mastiffs, a pre-historic Lion, and the two giants.
We use the Fireball Scroll and toast 19 of the Hobgoblins. Then Arthur lobs the Inflatable Squid at them and kills the animals and encourages the final Hobgoblin to flee, but the Squid grabs him as a late life snack.
Sputnik zaps the Fire Giant with the Korian circlet for a little damage. Zephram drops him with a crossbow bolt. The Cloud Giant Flies at us. He is just under 17’ tall and the ceiling is 20 feet high. He has to hover above the carpet of bugs, but missiles do not hurt him and he doesn’t seem to be very affected by fire or electricity. We wail on him until he decides to flee with 8 wounds. Five of them came from two hits by Raybur with Ankle Biter, bka Belly Miner.
He runs and Fred sets the Battlement Bridge. He runs into it, stops and
